Everyone gets into the act--the kids get a little cheeky with their parents and the parents take the grandparents for granted--good lessons for all, here. This is one of the Berenstain Bears' spiritual titles--part of their Living Lights series--and illustrates its lessons with Biblical quotations. If you can't stand religion or Bible quotations, this may not be the book for you. But, if like many of us, you are iterested in reinforcing moral lessons with religious principles, this series fits the bill. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: The Berenstain Bears Show Some Respect (Berenstain Bears/Living Lights) (Paperback) What a great subject matter for kids these days. I have read almost every Berenstain book to my girls. This one was too dry, preachy, not funny. I am glad though someone is willing to write on this subject. 5 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By Pickypicky (Massachusetts, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: The Berenstain Bears Show Some Respect (Berenstain Bears/Living Lights) (Paperback) Until now my family has loved every Berenstain Bears story. There is always a moral, but it is presented in good humor and my kids often laugh out loud at these stories. I find them to be generally very perceptive about family life. We love the "Too Much TV" and "Messy Room" books - we have read them so often the binding is coming apart. We even have some of the videos, which I think are very well done. "Show Some Respect," however, really falls flat. The tone is cynical and preachy (biblical, even), and not at all humorous. I don't think I've ever returned a book due to the content in my entire life, but I'm returning this one. |
